It's just game one of a three-game series, but Boise State has beaten the best the Mountain West has to offer.
A throwing error allowed Rose Saenz to score in the bottom of the ninth to give the Lady Broncos a 3-2 win today at Dona Larsen Park. Kacie McCarthy held Boise State hitless until the eighth inning with a 2-0 lead. Tara Glover led off with a single, and took third on a double by Holly Bourke. One batter later, a groundout by Mackenzie Whyte plated Glover and a single by Sarah Barnes scored Bourke to tie the score.
Saenz led off the ninth with a single then advanced to second on a walk. She moved to third on a ground ball by Jordan Kreiger, and scored on the error. Rebecca Patton allowed seven hits through eight innings, then Kenzie Cole came on in the ninth to pick up the victory.
The two teams meet again tomorrow at 3 p.m.
