The Boise State men's track team shocked powerful Oregon with seven titles at the Blue and Orange Opener at Jackson's Indoor Track in Nampa yesterday. The Ducks were able to win six events.
Will Lohman uncorked a personal best of 60-feet, 5-inches to win the weight throw, easily outdistancing Oregon's Miles Walk (55-10.25). Manoah Wesson set an indoor-best of 47.79 seconds to take the 400-meter title and finished second to teammate Daveon Collins (21.35) in the 200-meters in 21.81. Chase Sexton captured the shot put with a throw of 57-11.75, edging Oregon's Sam Crouser (57-9.75), while Roderick Townsend won the high jump (6-6.75), Allan Schroeder the Mile (4:20.96) and the Bronco men's 4 x 400-meter relay team won in 3:26.43.
Rolando Trammel was second in the 60-meters (6.97) and third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.03. Justin Maines captured second in the latter event with a personal best of 8.01. Kyle Brush (4:25.26) and Wyatt Diederickson (4:33.10) finished behind Schroeder to cap a 1-2-3 Boise State finish in the miles.
The Boise State women, meanwhile, won the 4 x 400-meter relay (3:54.15) to avoid being shut out for the day.
The Boise State teams host the Bronco Invitational next Saturday, January 19 at Jackson's Track.
