Boise State Coasts Past San Jose State 68-51

Four Broncos scored in double figures as Boise State coach Leon Rice used his bench sparingly in a 68-51 win at San Jose State tonight.

Boise State grabbed a 38-21 lead in the first half behind balanced scoring, and went on to set a school record with their 13th conference win (they are 13-4) and set another school mark with their 22nd regular-season victory.  The 1987-88, 1988-89, and 2007-08 Broncos were previously tied for the school record with 21 regular season wins.

Senior Rob Heyer set the pace with 15 points on 5-7 shooting, while senior Derrick Marks added 13, James Webb III contributed 11 and freshman Chandler Hutchison added 10.  Nick Duncan controlled the boards with 8, while Webb III and Hutchison had six each and Marks and Igor Hadziomerovic five each.

Rashad Muhammad netted 17 points to lead the Spartans with help from Jaleel Williams who had 10.  Brandon Mitchell led all players with 11 rebounds.

Boise State closes out the regular season Saturday night against the last team to beat them, Fresno State.  It will be Senior Night in Boise, when Marks, Hadziomerovic, Heyer, Joe Hanstad and Jake Ness will be honored prior to the game.

Former Broncos Doing Well in Europe

Ryan Watkins and Thomas Bropleh are two players who just missed the incredible 2014-15 season for Boise State by one season, having graduated last year.

Both former Broncos are performing well in Europe.  Watkins is averaging 15.2 points and 10.1 rebounds a game for Aris Leeuwarden in the Netherlnads, while Bropleh, who plays for Finke Baskets, is #4 in scoring in Germany's ProA League, averaging 16.8 points a game.
