Boise State Gymnasts Top #23 Ohio State on the Road
Boise State scored one of the biggest gymnastics road wins in its history, beating #23 Ohio State 196.025 to 194.925 tonight in Columbus. This and the meet at Alabama are exactly what the Bronco gymnastics program have been missing in prior years to get the type of pressure-packed events that they will be experiencing in the postseason.
The Broncos won three of the four apparatuses en route to the victory. Krystine Jacobsen posted a 9.875 score on uneven bars to win the individual title and spark Boise State to a 49.075 score.
Kelsey Morris scored 9.90 on vault, with freshman Ann Stockwell taking second place with a 9.875 and Paige Urquhart and Ciera Perkins getting 9.80 scores. Boise State rang up a superb 49.200 team score.

“We’re so proud of this team,” said co-head coach Tina Bird. “We had several new gymnasts in the lineup and they did a great job. Kelsey Morris had a phenomenal night, as did Ciera Perkins. Tonight was truly a team effort.”
Boise State hosts BYU next Friday at 7 p.m. in Taco Bell Arena.
Projected Points for Final Day of MW Swimming & Diving
It is a two-team race for first, although Nevada very easily could top Boise State tomorrow as the Wolf Pack have nearly improved to the Broncos' level. Here are the projections for tomorrow's seven finals based on top times this season:

However, given Boise State's performance today in which they scored over 100 points below expectations, you could take 100 points off the Broncos' total tomorrow. That would give San Diego State a 56-point win and make them the new Mountain West Conference champions.

San Diego State with Day Three Lead
The San Diego State Aztecs are shocking Boise State by grabbing the lead after three days at the 2015 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships. It was a very bad day for Boise State, which scored a full 110 points below expectations in the six finals. San Diego State, meanwhile, is 14 points ahead of schedule, and Nevada is 256 points better than projected. The Wolf Pack have been stealing points from Boise State right and left.
Boise State is once again expected to score the most points tomorrow, but the way the Broncos have been swimming, and with the Aztecs all fired up with the lead, it may be too little, too late.

Friday Finals Underway
Boise State trying to dig out of the hole they dug for themselves have tonight and tomorrow to try to win a championship in San Antonio, Texas.
First final is the 400 Medley Relay. Boise State has the best time in the conference by over two seconds. But, as we have seen, that doesn't translate into Mountain West Championships for the Broncos. They actually have to beat their competition.

Boise State's 239-Point Lead Is All But Gone
Through a combination of student-athletes not being entered in their best events and tough luck, Boise State's expected landslide win at the Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships is no more.
The Broncos were expected to score 261 points today, and based on preliminary heats this morning, are now projected to score just 144. San Diego State is projected to get 178, and will take the lead after Day 3 of the four-day competition.
Boise State had a slim 7-point lead yesterday, but that has evaporated, and the Aztecs will be your Day Three leader by a minimum of 20 points. The Broncos were also expected to win tomorrow's competition with 273 projected points to 186 for San Diego State, but given their swimming this week, the Bronco team has to step it up bigtime. Given the facts through three days as referred to above, San Diego State has cut that 239-point deficit down to 52. And as we mentioned, the way Boise State is swimming, the Aztecs could grab the lead today, which will give them huge confidence, and then pull away and ruin Boise State's hopes for its third conference championship in four years.

McClure Does Not Qualify
Morgan McClure, who had the second-fastest 400IM time in the conference, finished 18th this morning in preliminaries, and did not even qualify for tonight's "B" final.
McClure, who had a seeded time of 4:17.71, swam 4:29.90 this morning. The Broncos are having serious problems in this pool.

Bad News for Bronco Swimming Team
Brittany Aoyama, who had the fastest 200-yard freestyle time in the Mountain West (1:46.99) did not enter the event in the championships. We won't speculate on the reason, but Boise State loses 20 points before the final is even run.
