Crump and Zell Earn Mountain West Softball Awards

Allie Crump and Aubray Zell were honored by the Mountain West Conference as the MWC Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.  Boise State won the 100th game in program history against Minnesota and also defeated Portland State and Utah State to run their home winning streak to 18 games, third-longest in the nation.

Crump was 6-11 (.545)at the plate with two home runs and four RBI's, including a two-out home run Friday night to beat Portland State.  After Portland State tied the game in the top of the seventh inning, Crump hit a 1-1 pitch over the fence in right center field for the game-winner.  Allie also singled in the eighth inning to put runners on the corners, enabling Boise State to win the game in the eighth inning.  On Sunday, Crump went 3-4 with a two-run homer in the sixth.

Zell pitched two complete games in the SpringHill Suites Invitational and allowed just nine hits in 15 innings while striking out 18.  Zell had a .93 ERA in her two starts against Minnesota and Utah State.  Aubray struck out 11 and walked one in the extra-inning affair with Minnesota, then scattered five hits against Utah State.

The Broncos have five games this weekend as the SpringHill Suites Invitational continues at Mountain Cove Field in Boise.
