The Boise State gymnastics team edged BYU last night in Provo, Utah, but both teams scored under 196, the point total needed to be taken seriously as a Top 12 team. The Lady Broncos totaled 194.700 points to 194.425 for the homestanding Cougar women.
Sophomore Caitlin Mann won four titles, including all-around, while Brittany Potvin-Green and Amanda Otuafi each shared two titles on individual events. Mann won the all-around with 38.625, chalking up titles on vault (9.850), uneven bars (9.850) and balance beam (9.750). Otuafi shared the vault title with Mann, Potvin-Green shared the bars title with Mann, and Potvin-Green and Otuafi each scored 9.850 on floor exercises to tie for individual honors there.
"We are happy with our performance tonight," said co-head coach Tina Bird. "It was a great team effort."
The two teams will face off in one week at the first Boise State Beauty and the Beast competition of the season. The meet will be held in conjunction with the wrestling match on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7:00 p.m. in Taco Bell Arena.
