Boise State With Four Sub-9.8's on Beam

Boise State with a 48.650 on beam.  That will make it tough to reach the Top 10 by the end of the year.  More important, it puts the Broncos on the back burner as far as judges at the NCAA Regionals are concerned.  A lot easier to get into the Top 12 if you're ranked in the Top 12 than if you're not, as Boise State found out last year.

Boise State with a 48.625 on Bars

The first four all earned 9.825, but then a 9.325 and a 9.25.

San Jose State has 96.825 to 97.650 for Boise State.  Broncos will have to work now for that 196.

So Far, So Good for Boise State Gymnastics

Boise State with a 49.025 on the vault to start the meet with San Jose State.  SJSU received a disappointing 48.40 in their first rotation.  The Broncos need a 49 in each event to get 196, which is the minimum score they need from here on out.  Boise State did get two individual scores under 9.8, something they want to avoid.

Alec Dhaenens is a Bronco!

According to numerous sources, Alec Dhaenens (6-4, 230) from Fruitland has committed to Boise State. He grew up watching the Broncos and even though he had offers from Washington State and Nevada, he committed on the spot upon being offered by Boise State.

Whyte Leads off the 7th with a single

Last chance for Boise State, down 4-0.

Capobianco doubled to center and the Broncos have their first run, 4-1.

Ground out, however, to end the game.  Not bad against #13, but it shows how much work the team has to do.

Last Call for Offense

Boise State batting in the top of the seventh against #13 UCLA.  Broncos have played well, but not getting offensive support.  UCLA tacked on an insurance run in the 6th and now leads 4-0.

Bridges Gets Boise State Started in 6th

Boise State's best hitter, Devon Bridges, singled with one out in the sixth vs. UCLA.  Five more outs to get something done for the Broncos.

Update:  Holly Bourke has followed with a two-out single, runners on first and second.  But a strikeout ended the inning with the score 3-0, UCLA.

Hits Not Coming Easy for Boise State

Broncos have mustered just three hits in five innings vs. UCLA.  Zell is pitching well also, allowing just five hits to the Bruins, but they have three runs and are batting in the bottom of the fifth.

Broncos still scoreless, and continue to trail UCLA 2-0 in the Bruins' part of the third.

Boise State Down to UCLA 2-0

Lady Broncos want to maintain contact to have a chance, down 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd with UCLA batting.

Boise State Tops UC Santa Barbara 7-1

In another Idaho exclusive, Blue Through and Through has the final score for the Boise State softball team.  The Broncos downed UC Santa Barbara 7-1 today in Malibu, California.

The Lady Broncs did all their damage in the first three innings, getting a grand slam and a double from first baseman Christina Capobianco, who was 2-4.  Capobianco tied the school record for home runs with her 36th.  Tara Glover was also 2-4 for Coach Erin Thorpe while leadoff hitter Kellie Caplan was 1-3.  Allie Crump pitched six solid innings, striking out four, to earn the victory while Lela Work came in in the seventh inning.

Boise State is 5-1 so far this season, just ahead of four games against nationally-ranked teams.  The Broncos take on UCLA this afternoon at 4.

UPDATE: Broncos lead UC Santa Barbara 7-1

After six innings, Broncos continue to lead.  Broncos will try to close the door in the bottom of the seventh.
