Boise State Basketball Team #49 in RPI Ratings

Although the schedule is still very lacking, the Boise State basketball team is now #49 in this week's RPI Ratings, which of course are looked at closely in determining the NCAA field.  It's early, but Leon Rice's team is off to a great start.

Boise State's Kellen Moore Named the Nation's Best Quarterback; Future Name Changed to the Kellen Moore Award

Too bad the Sugar Bowl doesn't want the nation's best quarterback.  That honor didn't go to anyone within thousands of miles of that bowl, but rather to Boise State's Kellen Moore.

For the second straight year, the Touchdown Club of Columbus awarded Moore the honor but in an even more humbling move, announced that beginning next year, the award with a 57-year tradition will be called the Kellen Moore Award.

Moore set a school record (he's practically rewritten the entire book) with 300 completions this year for more than 3,500 yards and 41 touchdowns (also a school record) this season.  Moore completed 74.1% of his passes to lead the nation.  He broke the all-time NCAA record for wins by a starting quarerback with 49.  Moore is second in career touchdown passes (140) and fourth in all-time passing yards (14,374) with one more game to play against Arizona State in the Las Vegas Bowl December 22.

Moore joines an elite group of Matt Leinart of USC and Ken Dorsey from Miami as the only players to win the award twice.

The 57th Columbus Awards Banquet will be February 11 at the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion in downtown Columbus, Ohio.
