The Bronco tennis team, which has done well in the Blue Gray Classic in the past, blanked #35 Alabama in the opening round yesterday in Montgomery, Alabama.
Coach Greg Patton's squad won the doubles point, then captured three consecutive singles matches with Garrett Patton, Brendan McClain and Nathan Sereke doing the damage to advance the Broncos to the second round.
“I am so proud of the way our team came out and played today, we played awesome!” said head coach Greg Patton. “This win against a tough nationally ranked Alabama team puts us in position to play a top-25 team in No. 21 Clemson tomorrow. If we play well it could potentially get us back into the discussion with the top programs in the country. Today’s win gives us a chance to make a statement to move up in the rankings and it gives us a shot not only to do it against a top program but against the team that defeated us in last year’s NCAA Tournament.”
Boise State faces #21 Clemson at 12:30 this afternoon.
