LaSalle, like Boise State, received an at-large berth into the 2013 Big Dance. The Philadelphia school from the Atlantic 10 Conference, like Boise State, features a smaller lineup that can really shoot.
The Explorers are led by Ramon Galloway at 17 points a game. He has taken the most three-point attempts of the team, hitting 80-199 (40.2%). Galloway can also drive the hoop, and the Broncos want to be aware of this. Gallaway connected on 96-of-117 free throws, many resulting from his forays into the lane.
Tyreek Duran averaged 15.0 points this season and hit 45-of-114 three-pointers for 39.5%. Duran is also a penetrator, and is 105-136 from the line. Tyrone Garland is another double-figure scorer at 12.9 points a game and Jerrell Wright is hitting at a 10.3 points per game clip and also pulls down 6.9 rebounds a contest.
Steve Zack gives LaSalle a decidable height advantage inside. Zack is averaging 6.4 points and 6.4 rebounds a game.
LaSalle scores 72.4 points a game to 66.0 points for their opponents. The Explorers shoot 44.8% from the field, 37.1% from three-point range, and a solid 73.8% from the line. They were outrebounded this year, 1,040 to 951. With their quick guard-heavy lineup, they average 8.1 steals a game, something else the Broncos will have to be wary of.
LaSalle lost a tough game at home to Central Connecticut State (81-74), before reeling off five straight wins. Included in that streak were wins over NCAA Tournament team Villanova and Penn State. LaSalle scored an impressive 54-53 win over Butler and a 69-61 road win at another tourney team--VCU.
Both teams are excited and ready for the challenge. It should be a great game Wednesday night in Dayton, Ohio. Tipoff is at 7:10 p.m. Mountain time.
