Mark Coyle New AD at Boise State

Boise State has hired Mark Coyle to be the new Athletic Director, Blue Through and Through has learned.  He replaces longtime AD Gene Bleymaier, who recently stepped down.  Coyle will start his new job sometime next month.

Boise State President Bob Kustra is making the announcement right now at the Allen Noble Hall of Fame on campus.

Coyle says his top priorities are keeping Coach Chris Petersen at Boise State and creating an inclusive environment not only for Bronco fans in Idaho but nationwide and involving the tens of thousands of Boise State fans around the country in fundraising.

Coyle previously served as the Deputy Director of Athletics and Associate Athletic Director for Fundraising and Development at the University of Kentucky.  Coyle oversaw the K Fund, which generates athletic scholarships at Kentucky, and also managed fundraising for major capital projects.
 
Prior to coming to Kentucky, Coyle worked first as the Director of Marketing for men's athletics then as Director of Marketing when the departments were merged.  He then was promoted to the Associate Athletics Director for External Relations. In his new position, Coyle was responsible for managing marketing and promotions, the ticket office, athletics communications, licensing and the department's website, or 60% of the revenue for the university.
 
Coyle worked as Vice President for Host Communications from 1994-2001 prior to taking the job at Minnesota.  He was responsible for a multi-million dollar annual budget and his group was in charge of agreements with several universities and conferences including the Southeastern Conference, Notre Dame, Florida State, Purdue and Tennessee.
 
Coyle, a native of Iowa, holds a bachelor's degree in English and a master's in Education from Drake University.  He also earned a master's in Sports Administration at Florida State and began his career in collegiate athletics in 1992 at Florida State in marketing and ticket operations. He's also worked for the University of Miami and Edelman Public Relations Worldwide in Chicago, Illinois.

Coyle and his wife, Krystan, have two children, Grace and Nicholas. Krystan earned a master’s in business administration at UK and was a physical therapist at UK’s Chandler Medical Center when the Coyles lived in Lexington.
