Seven Days To Go...

To the delight of football fans everywhere, the 2011 college football season for Boise State begins in earnest one week from today against #19 Georgia in the Georgia Dome.

Word is that Georgia is practicing already in that facility--one more hole in the "neutral site" theory.  It seems that embattled Coach Mark Richt is pulling out all the stops--getting the services of former Bronco quarterback Mikey Tamburo to educate the Bulldog defense on the type of plays that Boise State runs, having Tamburo run the Georgia Scout offense, and then giving his defense confidence by destroying the offense that Tamburo runs to simulate the Bronco offense.  I heard Tamburo threw several picks and the Bulldog defense gathered considerable confidence from that.

You really get the feeling that Richt and his staff is very worried about the possibility of losing to Boise State and what the Bulldog fan base would think if they fail next Saturday.  I have to wonder if that nervousness is perceived by the Georgia football team and how that might affect them.

The Chick-Fil-A Bowl built in a 10-1 fan advantage for Georgia, only offering Boise State 7,000 tickets and will feature referees from Georgia's SEC Conference--the same refs that protected Auburn's #1 ranking and "national championship" berth late in the Alabama game last year.

Yep, Boise State is going to have to make this game so lopsided that the referees can't have an influence.  And those calls could be early in the game (as they were on a kickoff return against Washington in 2007), the middle, the end, or consistent throughout.  The Broncos are going to have to continue undeterred no matter what happens, don't let the calls get them down, don't let the crowd affect them, and remember what the coaches have told them and remember what got them to this point.

It's not going to be easy by any means but I have faith in them.
