The Boise State women's tennis team hosted future Mountain West opponent New Mexico last night and the Broncos came away with their first home win of the year 7-0 at the BOAS Indoor Tennis Complex.
The Lady Broncos had been in a bit of a slump and needed the shutout win to boost confidence. Elyse Edwards and Sonia Klamczynska started it off with an 8-3 win at #2 doubles. Lauren Megale and Marlena Pietzuch downed Ashley Bonner and Anya Villaneuva of New Mexico 8-3 to get the doubles point and Stephanie Jasper and Sandy Vo won at #3 doubles 8-4.
Edwards was the first of the Bronco singles players to lock up a win, defeating Kristin Eggleston in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Klamczynska scored a 6-4, 6-3 win at #2 singles and Boise State was a win away from the dual win. Pietzuch clinched it with a 7-6, 6-3 win at #5 singles. Jasper, Vo and Megale all won their matches to record the sweep.
Boise State is in action tomorrow (Sunday) in a match against Montana. That gets underway at 10 a.m. at BOAS.
