Dr. Keiser Has Died

Former Boise State University president Dr. John Keiser has died at the age of 79.

Next to current president Bob Kustra, Keiser probably did more for Boise State than any other president.  In his 13 years from 1978-1991, Keiser saw the Broncos win the I-AA national championship and built the Pavilion (now called Taco Bell Arena), the Morrison Center, the Student Union Building and the Technology Center.

Keiser fought hard with the Idaho State Board of Education to move Boise State to Division I, only to be denied.  Those board members who voted against the move were replaced, and Boise State was able to realize Keiser's dream in 1996.

Keiser was named to the Boise State Hall of Fame in 2007, and even though he moved on to Missouri State, he continued to follow the Broncos.  When Keiser retired in 2005, he and his wife Nancy moved back to Boise.

Rest in Peace, Dr. Keiser--we acknowledge your many accomplishments for Boise State.
