Boise State Signs Two Nationally-Respected Gymnasts

The Boise State gymnastics program has attracted two decorated gymnasts to Boise.  Krystine Jacobsen of Norfolk, Virginia and Maddie Krentz of Phoenix, Arizona have signed letters of intent to compete for the Broncos.

Jacobsen competed for the Excalibur Gymnastics Club in Virginia Beach, where she was a member of the TOPS National B Team in 2004 before moving to the A Team in 2005.  The following year, Jacobsen competed for the U.S. Challenge Hopes Elite team and was a junior elite competitor on the international circuit in 2008 and 2009.  Jacobsen as 17th all-around in the Junior Olympics in 2007. 

Krentz was honored as the 2010 Arizona State Athlete of the Year for her performance on the Arizona Sunrays club team in Phoenix.  Krentz finished fourth on vault at the regionals in 2009 and was third in 2010.  She finished seventh on bars, ninth on the floor and 20th all-around at the 2010 Junior Olympics. 

"We are so excited to sign two gymnasts with such high level backgrounds," explained Bird. "Maddie Krentz has an exciting resume of complicated skills that will help take us to the next level.  Krystine Jacobsen has major competition experience and elegant lines in her gymnastics.  Both gymnasts will make an immediate impact in our program."
