The Boise State volleyball team is playing well, setting a school record for match hitting percentage in defeating Texas Southern 25-8, 25-15, 25-4 at the Sooner Legends Nike Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma.
Boise State hit 58.5% with freshman Brittany Reardon recording the second-best hitting percentage individually (11-13 or 84.6%).
"I was happy with the way the team played, it was a good way for us to start the tournament out," said head coach Shawn Garus. "We hit the ball extremely well and capitalized on what they gave us. We were able to get some of our young players into the match for quality experience. I was real happy with the way Brittany (Reardon) and Taylor (Murphey) played in the match."
Reardon added three block assists to lead the team with 26 this season. Breann Nesselhuf had six kills, two aces, two block assists, 19 assists and four digs. Freshman Taylor Murphey had six kills while Casey Rose had 19 assists and three aces.
Mona Reed led Texas outhern with five kills.
