Aoyama and Martin qualify in 50 freestyle
Boise State's Brittany Aoyama and Katelyn Martin qualified for the 50-yard freestyle final tonight by placing in the top eight in today's preliminaries.
Samantha Wicks, who had the fourth best time in the Mountain West this season, did not swim in this event.

Three Broncos Qualify in 500 IM
Preliminaries are underway on Day Two of the Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships in San Antonio, Texas.
Felicity Cann, Amelia Draney, and Emri Moore all qualified for tonight's final in the 500-yard freestyle, while Samantha Wicks and Sydney Johansen qualified in the 200 individual medley.

The Times, They Are A-Changin'
Most basketball fans grew up watching head coach Jerry Tarkanian lead UNLV to four Final Four appearances, including a national championship in 1990. We lost Tarkanian on February 11 at age 84, and the Rebels honored their outstanding coach prior to the game tonight in Las Vegas with Boise State.
But in 2015, it is Boise State with 19 wins and one game out of first place in the Mountain West Conference following an improbable 53-48 win. It was the first Bronco win in Las Vegas in history. Earlier this season, Boise State also beat New Mexico in Albuquerque for the first time and Utah State in Logan for the first time.
Coach Leon Rice's team played without five players for the third consecutive game, yet managed the win. Boise State, normally an excellent three-point shooting team, shot a collective 1-18 for the game. The Broncos, who normally turn the ball over less than ten times for an entire game, had nine TO's in the first half. And yet, the Broncos prevailed for the ninth time in the last ten games.
Boise State won because they held the Rebels to 30% shooting (18-60), and they dominated the boards, 47-36. Derrick Marks paced the Broncos with 16 points, while James Webb III had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Jelan Kendrick led UNLV with 15 points, while Christian Wood had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Goodluck Okonoboh contributed 10.
Boise State moved its record to 19-7 and is 9-4 in conference, while the Rebels slipped to 14-12 and 5-8.

Boise State Expected to Dominate at Mountain West Swimming Championships
Boise State has narrowly won two of the last three Mountain West Conference Swimming Championships, one year coming down to the final race before taking the title.
In the past, San Diego State has been a strong rival. Now, it appears that the distance between Coach Kristin Hill's Broncos and the Aztecs has considerably widened. In fact, in an analysis of the pre-race heat sheets for the championships which begin tomorrow, the race for second and third will be closer than the race for the conference champion.
Here are the projected point totals, using the conference top times and championship scoring allocation. (Note: coaches can and often do shuffle swimmers around to best use them. The projected point total is merely a guide.)

In the past, San Diego State has been a strong rival. Now, it appears that the distance between Coach Kristin Hill's Broncos and the Aztecs has considerably widened. In fact, in an analysis of the pre-race heat sheets for the championships which begin tomorrow, the race for second and third will be closer than the race for the conference champion.

Marks Has 19 in the First Half
Boise State has a 42-40 lead, thanks to a 3 at the buzzer from Rob Heyer.
Boise State and Fresno State Tied at 32
Fresno was up 12, but a 13-0 Bronco run has caught them. A little over two minutes left in the half.
Combined Men's and Women's Basketball Records
Boise State has adapted well in the Mountain West. With just over three weeks to play in the conference season, both the Bronco men's and women's basketball teams are contenders for conference titles. This is an interesting statistic that shows the combined strength of both basketball teams:

Boise State Women's Basketball Wins A Key One
Boise State stopped first place Fresno State this afternoon 75-66 in Taco Bell Arena, an important win for seeding in the upcoming Mountain West Tournament. Don't look now, but the Broncos are just one game behind first place in the loss column.
Miquelle Askew poured in 23 points for Boise State, assisted by Brooke Pahukoa with 12 points and 11 for Yaiza Rodriguez.
The Lady Broncos are now 8-4 in conference, behind only 10-3 Colorado State, 9-3 Fresno, and 9-3 New Mexico. UNLV sits in fifth with a 6-5 mark, while Wyoming is an even 6-6.
Colorado State is 18-6 overall, Fresno State is 17-6, and Boise State 16-7. New Mexico is 13-10 overall, while Wyoming and San Jose State have 11-11 marks.

Martinez-Kelley 1-2 in Men's 400
The competition isn't super strong, but Boise State finished 1-2 nonetheless in the men's 400 at the Team Challenge at Jackson's Track in Nampa. Fernando Martinez (47.98) and Kyle Kelly (48.16) got the job done today.
