Since Jason Chamberlain is the only Bronco still wrestling, Boise State has fallen from 12th to 19th place. If he can win, Chamberlain will improve Boise State's point total, but their place will be about the same. Currently, they are wrestling off for 7th place, 5th place, 3rd place, etc. in each of the weight classifications before they have the championships.

Big Day for Bronco Sports
Jason Chamberlain goes for gold tonight in the championship match at 149 pounds in Des Moines, Iowa. Chamberlain would be the third Bronco to capture a national title in wrestling if he can get the job done tonight. He is facing the top seed however in the match.
The Bronco gymnasts will have to perform at their best to topple Denver at the WAC Championships. Denver is the #13 team in the nation while Boise State is the next-highest team.
The Boise State tennis team hosts the SpringHill Invitational at the Appleton Tennis Center. Join Patton's Army for a great weekend of tennis.

Bronco Weight Throwers Do Well in Arizona
Matt Post led the Boise State contingent at the ASU Invite Track & Field meet in Tempe, placing third in the hammer. Post threw a career-best 196' 2". Alyssa Osai was fourth in the women's hammer with a career-best of 194-10. The throw was just four inches outside of Boise State's all-time top three in the event.

Chamberlain Wins, Will Wrestle in Championship Match
Jason Chamberlain of Boise State won his semifinal match 7-3 and will take on Jordan Oliver of Oklahoma tomorrow night for the national championship at 149 pounds.
Half a Boise State Team has 19.5 Points
If all 10 members of the Bronco wrestling team were at the NCAA's and did as well as this five, Boise State would have 39 points right now and would be in third place. Incentive for the rest of the team to join the party next year!
Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and Nebraska are the teams immediately ahead of Boise State and we'll try to keep you posted on how they do as well.
A Nebraska wrestler is going at 184 and won 7-5 so they'll move further ahead. Kolb lost at 197 and is out.

J.T. Felix going against Justin Grant of Bloomsburg at 285 pounds. No scoring through the first minute.
Felix now losing 2-0 against unseeded Grant with one minute left in opening period.

2013 NCAA National Wrestling Championships Results
Boise State may not have the eight or nine wrestlers needed to compete for a team championship, but five individual Broncos will participate in this year's NCAA Wrestling Championships in their weight classifications.

Boise State Speech & Debate Team Wins Second Straight National Championship
It's becoming almost an annual event. Boise State once again won the Pi Kappa Delta National Championship in speech and debate in St. Louis, defending the title it won last year. The Talkin' Broncos won for third time in the last four years and the fourth time since 2005. Boise State also finished second in both 2007 and 2009.
“They worked really hard as a team. That’s it, that’s all,” said Manda Hicks, director of forensics. “It is so gratifying to see their hard work pay off. With this kind of activity there are a lot of variables and it’s very difficult to make it all come together. They worked as a team and did the tedious, miserable stuff that’s necessary for success and they won. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
In British Parliamentary Debate, the team of Dalton Hellman, (junior, Canby, Ore.) and KayCee Babb (sophomore, Weiser) took home a Superior Award and finished second place overall in the tournament. In Legislative Debate, Fred Swanstrum (freshman, Kuna) received the Top Superior Award and Howie Long (senior, Orange Park, Fla.) received an Excellent. In Public Debate, Josh Watkins (senior, Kuna) and Long were both tournament quarter-finalists, with Long receiving a Superior award and Watkins receiving an Excellent. Other Excellent awards in Public Debate included: Lauren Bramwell (junior, St. Anthony), Sabonn Dammarell (senior, Boise) and Swanstrum. In Discussion, Monica Cutler (senior, Fairfield) received a Superior award. In Public-Forum Debate, the team of Katharine Miller (senior, Eagle) and Brittany Clark (junior, Kuna) received an Excellent award.
Top competitors in individual events included:
- Taylor Bruun (senior, Idaho Falls) received a Superior in both Impromptu Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking.
- Hellman received the Top Superior Award in Persuasive Speaking and Excellent awards in Impromptu Speaking, Informative Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking.
- Bramwell received a Superior in Broadcast Journalism and Excellent awards in Prose Interpretation and Duo Interpretation.
- Clark received the Top Superior Award in Broadcast Journalism and an Excellent in Poetry Interpretation.
- Taylor Ashe (freshman, Star) received a Superior award in Broadcast Journalism and Excellent awards in To Honor PKD and Poetry Interpretation.
- Watkins received a Superior in After-Dinner Speaking and an Excellent in Impromptu Speaking
- Babb and Swanstrum received a Superior in Oral History.
- Jon Agnew (senior, Idaho Falls) received Excellent awards in Impromptu Speaking, After-Dinner Speaking and Broadcast Journalism.

- Babb received Excellent awards in Poetry Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation and Communication Analysis.

After Beating Three Ranked Teams, Boise State Tennis Team Ranked #46
The climb back up is going to be tough. After knocking off top seed and #22 Notre Dame, plus nationally-ranked Nebraska (4-0) and #37 Texas Tech to win the Blue Gray Classic Championship, the Boise State tennis team debuted at #46 in today's College Tennis Online rankings. Boise State had been unranked last week.
The message is clear: one weekend does not a respected team make. But if Boise State can continue to beat ranked teams, they should start making bigger moves up the college tennis ladder.

Boise State Basketball Team To Play in Diamond Head Classic
As if you needed an excuse to go to Hawai'i. But here's one:
Boise State will play in the 2013 Hawai'ian Airlines Diamond Head Basketball Classic this December in Honolulu. The Broncos join Iowa State, Oregon State, Saint Mary's, South Carolina, George Mason and host Hawai'i for the tournament, which is set for December 22, 23 and 25.

Well, a second loss at home in their own tournament for the Bronco softball team. Boise State of the Mountain West lost yesterday to Utah State of the WAC, and they fell today to Idaho State of the Big Sky, 6-4.
The Broncos are trying to salvage some pride against Portland State, up 2-0 in the 4th. Rebecca Patton has a no-hitter through four.

That's pretty much the last team that can take a bid away from Boise State. Mississippi is likely in by getting to the SEC final, but that shouldn't be enough to back the Broncos out of the tourney.

Bettles Breaks Serve, Leads Boise State To Dramatic Win Over #22 Notre Dame

This was an exciting win for the Boise State tennis program. They lost the doubles point, and had to win four singles matches to knock off #1 seed Notre Dame at the Blue Gray Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Alabama. They did it.
The story revolves around #1 singles player Andy Bettles. Bettles fell behind when he lost the first set 6-4. He was then down 5-2 in the second set and, facing elimination each game, rallied to win five consecutive games and take the second set 7-5. Then, with a 5-4 lead in set #3, Bettles broke serve to win his match and lead Boise State to a 4-3 win over #22 Notre Dame, the favorite to win the Blue Gray.
The Broncos take on Texas Tech for the championship tomorrow afternoon.

The Boise State basketball team is still on schedule to shatter the school record for best free-throw percentage in a season. And it's not close.
The Broncos have made 434-579 attempts this season for a sizzling 75.0%. That is significantly better than the 73.8% record set in the 2003-04 season. To show how great Coach Leon Rice's team has done, they could be 9-20 in the next game and still break the record.

Derrick Marks Four Free Throws Shy of Fifth-Place
With 144 free throws made this season, Derrick Marks sits in sixth place in school history. Marks is just four short of the great Tanoka Beard, who made 148 his sophomore season of 1990-1991.

Drmic Now 7th in Single-Season Scoring at Boise State
Boise State's Anthony Drmic now has 537 points this season to rank seventh all-time at the school. He recently passed Bronco great Steve Connor for the honor. Drmic is 20 points shy of Abe Jackson for sixth.

Boise State Tennis Team Throttles #38 Nebraska
Boise State shocked Nebraska today, not just in beating the #38 Cornhuskers, but blanking them, at the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Alabama.
Boise State won the doubles point as Andy Bettles and Nathan Sereke downed Andre Stenger and Marc Herrmann of Nebraska, 8-4. Garrett Patton and Scott Sears prevailed at #2 doubles, 8-3.
Filipp Pogostkin finished first with a win at #4 singles, his fourth straight victory. Thomas Tenreiro then scored a 7-5, 6-3 win over Tom Blackwell to bring Coach Greg Patton's team within one point of the upset. Then Andy Bettles won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 to clinch the match.

Things Continue To Go Generally Well for Boise State
Kentucky was pasted by a 16-16 Vanderbilt team today. Can't see anyone in their right mind choosing them for an at-large berth, defending champion or not.
Tennessee lost to Alabama, which has to diminish the Vols' chances. Alabama can still get in with one more win.
LaSalle lost to Butler but that was expected, so they could still get in.
Maryland winning definitely hurt Boise State but many feel the Terps need to win the ACC title to get in.
Iowa State lost to Kansas but most feel they are in anyway.
Iowa lost to Michigan State, as the Spartans made a furious comeback.

With California, Colorado, Cincinnati, Arkansas, Baylor and Illinois losing, and Virginia on the ropes, plus the fact that Utah and LSU (Boise State opponents) won tournament games, it's looking like Boise State could receive good news Sunday. Still plenty of basketball to go.

Broncos Go Down
73-67 to San Diego State, the team they just beat by four at home on Saturday night.
Boise State has put their fate in the hands of people who don't play basketball, the ones choosing teams for the NCAA Tournament. We will find out Sunday afternoon.
