Track George Ivanov's Performance at 2013 Wrestling Championships
George Ivanov downed Zilverberg of Minnesota 11-5 at 157 pounds. Ivanov will wrestle Taylor Walsh of Indiana (31-10) in the second round. Boise State in 13th place with 5 points.

2013 NCAA National Wrestling Championships Results
Boise State may not have the eight or nine wrestlers needed to compete for a team championship, but five individual Broncos will participate in this year's NCAA Wrestling Championships in their weight classifications.

Boise State Speech & Debate Team Wins Second Straight National Championship
It's becoming almost an annual event. Boise State once again won the Pi Kappa Delta National Championship in speech and debate in St. Louis, defending the title it won last year. The Talkin' Broncos won for third time in the last four years and the fourth time since 2005. Boise State also finished second in both 2007 and 2009.
“They worked really hard as a team. That’s it, that’s all,” said Manda Hicks, director of forensics. “It is so gratifying to see their hard work pay off. With this kind of activity there are a lot of variables and it’s very difficult to make it all come together. They worked as a team and did the tedious, miserable stuff that’s necessary for success and they won. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
In British Parliamentary Debate, the team of Dalton Hellman, (junior, Canby, Ore.) and KayCee Babb (sophomore, Weiser) took home a Superior Award and finished second place overall in the tournament. In Legislative Debate, Fred Swanstrum (freshman, Kuna) received the Top Superior Award and Howie Long (senior, Orange Park, Fla.) received an Excellent. In Public Debate, Josh Watkins (senior, Kuna) and Long were both tournament quarter-finalists, with Long receiving a Superior award and Watkins receiving an Excellent. Other Excellent awards in Public Debate included: Lauren Bramwell (junior, St. Anthony), Sabonn Dammarell (senior, Boise) and Swanstrum. In Discussion, Monica Cutler (senior, Fairfield) received a Superior award. In Public-Forum Debate, the team of Katharine Miller (senior, Eagle) and Brittany Clark (junior, Kuna) received an Excellent award.
Top competitors in individual events included:

After Beating Three Ranked Teams, Boise State Tennis Team Ranked #46
The climb back up is going to be tough. After knocking off top seed and #22 Notre Dame, plus nationally-ranked Nebraska (4-0) and #37 Texas Tech to win the Blue Gray Classic Championship, the Boise State tennis team debuted at #46 in today's College Tennis Online rankings. Boise State had been unranked last week.
The message is clear: one weekend does not a respected team make. But if Boise State can continue to beat ranked teams, they should start making bigger moves up the college tennis ladder.

Boise State Basketball Team To Play in Diamond Head Classic
As if you needed an excuse to go to Hawai'i. But here's one:
Boise State will play in the 2013 Hawai'ian Airlines Diamond Head Basketball Classic this December in Honolulu. The Broncos join Iowa State, Oregon State, Saint Mary's, South Carolina, George Mason and host Hawai'i for the tournament, which is set for December 22, 23 and 25.

Galloway can also drive the hoop, and the Broncos want to be aware of this. Gallaway connected on 96-of-117 free throws, many resulting from his forays into the lane.
Tyreek Duran averaged 15.0 points this season and hit 45-of-114 three-pointers for 39.5%. Duran is also a penetrator, and is 105-136 from the line. Tyrone Garland is another double-figure scorer at 12.9 points a game and Jerrell Wright is hitting at a 10.3 points per game clip and also pulls down 6.9 rebounds a contest.

Morgan Basil followed by rallying 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 to win at #2 singles, and the Broncos were a point away. Michigan State prevailed at #5 singles to tie the match, and Marlena Pietzuch sent the Broncos home happy with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win at #1 singles.

Boise State Leads Portland State 2-1

Well, a second loss at home in their own tournament for the Bronco softball team. Boise State of the Mountain West lost yesterday to Utah State of the WAC, and they fell today to Idaho State of the Big Sky, 6-4.
The Broncos are trying to salvage some pride against Portland State, up 2-0 in the 4th. Rebecca Patton has a no-hitter through four.

UMass Loses
That's pretty much the last team that can take a bid away from Boise State. Mississippi is likely in by getting to the SEC final, but that shouldn't be enough to back the Broncos out of the tourney.

Bettles Breaks Serve, Leads Boise State To Dramatic Win Over #22 Notre Dame

This was an exciting win for the Boise State tennis program. They lost the doubles point, and had to win four singles matches to knock off #1 seed Notre Dame at the Blue Gray Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Alabama. They did it.
The story revolves around #1 singles player Andy Bettles. Bettles fell behind when he lost the first set 6-4. He was then down 5-2 in the second set and, facing elimination each game, rallied to win five consecutive games and take the second set 7-5. Then, with a 5-4 lead in set #3, Bettles broke serve to win his match and lead Boise State to a 4-3 win over #22 Notre Dame, the favorite to win the Blue Gray.
The Broncos take on Texas Tech for the championship tomorrow afternoon.

The Broncos have made 434-579 attempts this season for a sizzling 75.0%. That is significantly better than the 73.8% record set in the 2003-04 season. To show how great Coach Leon Rice's team has done, they could be 9-20 in the next game and still break the record.

Boise State Tennis Team Throttles #38 Nebraska
Boise State shocked Nebraska today, not just in beating the #38 Cornhuskers, but blanking them, at the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Alabama.
Boise State won the doubles point as Andy Bettles and Nathan Sereke downed Andre Stenger and Marc Herrmann of Nebraska, 8-4. Garrett Patton and Scott Sears prevailed at #2 doubles, 8-3.
Filipp Pogostkin finished first with a win at #4 singles, his fourth straight victory. Thomas Tenreiro then scored a 7-5, 6-3 win over Tom Blackwell to bring Coach Greg Patton's team within one point of the upset. Then Andy Bettles won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 to clinch the match.

Broncos Go Down
73-67 to San Diego State, the team they just beat by four at home on Saturday night.
Boise State has put their fate in the hands of people who don't play basketball, the ones choosing teams for the NCAA Tournament. We will find out Sunday afternoon.

#15 New Mexico Closes Out Wyoming
The first-place team downed #8 Wyoming 59-46 to advance to the conference semis against the winner of Boise State-San Diego State.
NCAA Wrestling Championship Seeds Announced
Jason Chamberlain leads five Broncos into the upcoming NCAA Wrestling Championships as a #2 seed at 149 pounds. Chamberlain will meet freshman Caleb Irvin of Illinois in the opening round. Ervin with 22-12 and finished sixth at the Big Ten Championships.
Jake Swartz drew the #10 seed at 184 pounds, and he'll meet sophomore James Cook of Campbell. Cook is 8-6 this season, but scored two pins in his conference tournament. Heavyweight J.T. Felix is the #11 seed and will take on Justin Grant of Bloomsburg. Grant was 24-4 and presents a tough challenge for Felix.
George Ivanov will take on Daniel Zilverberg of Minnesota at 157 pounds; Zilverberg was fifth at the Big Ten Championships. Brian Owen will meet Lehigh's Randy Cruz in the opening round. Cruz is 31-10 and won the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association championship.
The Championships are set for March 21-23 in Des Moines, Iowa.

This is the danger of having a conference team host the tournament every year. They are a serious risk of winning it all each and every year. It was no contest today with the Rebels beating Air Force.
Colorado State Leading Fresno State
It's the opening round of the Mountain West Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas. Boise State and San Diego State are just hours away. In one game, Colorado State leads Fresno State 41-37 with 13:07 left.
Boise State Golf Team Surprises in Sacramento
The Boise State golf team managed a fourth place finish at the Sacramento State Invitational over the weekend, the Broncos' best finish since October of 2011.
Junior Jordan Skyles finished the three rounds with 214, tied for seventh individually, while senior T.K. Kim was 17th with a score of 218. Kim's seven Top 25 finishes this year give him 15 for his career, tied for eighth at Boise State with Adam Choy (2002-06).

Broncos Score Dramatic Win In Regular Season Finale
Boy, what a way to close out the regular season. Boise State scored yet another impressive win in this outstanding basketball season with a 69-65 win over San Diego State. With the win, I believe Boise State just punched a ticket to the NCAA Tourney, provided they beat the Aztecs in the opening round of the MWC Tourney.

When one team has the lead the entire game, you would expect that team to get more free throws, since they are being more aggressive. Not so, Jack. And it wasn't even close.

Boise State, in control of the game with UNLV nearly the entire game, boasting leads as much as 10 and 12 points, unfortunately was called for a lot more fouls in Las Vegas (with their top two scorers Anthony Drmic and Derrick Marks both fouling out), and as a result, the home team is going to win the game.
